Everyday I try to connect to blogster, article ready to cut and paste. Photo ready for uploading, eager to see what my fellow blogsters are doing. Today I made it or at least I go this far. I will add my post and see if I can go further. Keeping my fingers crossed
The other day we decided to take a walk in the park, this park also has a pretty neat modern arts museum called MOCA, which featured an international photography show,
After having been cooped up almost everyday since our return we decided to brave the cold.
We walked through the park all bundled up and saw many others like ourselves, probably others who were just bored staying at home.
At one point we reached a small lake. At the opposite end of the lake was a crowd of people.
Being the nosy parkers that we are we had to go and see what was going on.
Walking amongst the crowd we saw people sitting down on benches, with signs next to them and other people exchanging cards and we realized it was some sort of networking group.
As I got closer to the sign I was able to read a bit of it in my low level Chinese and realized that these signs were advertising these people’s children.
I recalled reading an article in the paper a while back that there are many Chinese only children who do not want to bother getting married. They are just as comfortable living at home forever.
Moms and Dads are not hearing this and have taking matters into their own hands; they are looking for partners for their children, in the park.
The adverts described the child, gave the birth date and a bit about the family.
Interestingly enough there were not photographs. These parents are interested in making a proper match.
The parents were very animated and lively and one could only wonder if their off spring were similar.
Potentially the parents could become very found of each other but the juniors could loathe each other on sight.
Or as one of our friends tell us, I am gay, but I could never tell my parents so I keep going out on these arranged dates with women that are introduced by my parents, but I find fault with everyone of them.
The parents however do not give up and as I looked at the folks in the park I wondered if our friend’s parents were amongst them.
But then again, they could be in another park!

Soooo glad to hear from you, Cisca! You always find something interesting to share. I have heard of online dating of course, but this in-park parent advertising effort is a unique approach!! It reminds me of comic Henny Youngman's classic line, "Take my wife... please!"
I will pray that the Blogster posting God will smile on all of us....
Take best care, my friend!
It never ceases to amaze me......growing up in a little small town in the midwest.....a sheltered life some would say....and then getting out in the real world and discovering how broad the spectrum is when it comes to ways of life, cultures, etc.
I can't imagine doing that myself.....but for some, it is a normal way of life, it is what they have always known....doesn't make it wrong....it's just something new that I haven't experienced!!
Hugs to you!
Another interesting post. Friends of my parents tried to match their daughter up with me back when we were teenagers. So it happens in America, too!
I take it there are no strong mores against premarital sex? Can't imagine so many twenty and thirty year old virgins. How interesting!
